III. The Recognition

Hey Earth, what's up?
The sky is orange all over town
It's only noon, why dark so soon?
Hey Earth, what's up?

I thought you'd like to see a sign
That things are not exactly fine
And that you're running out of time
Unless you heed my warnings

Hey Earth, what's the deal?
Hey Earthie, Babe, come on, get real!
Just what do you think you mean by this?
We've owned this place since Genesis!

Keep thinking that and you'll be sorry--
You'd better start to care
For the territory--
Otherwise, it's END OF STORY

Keep the balance balancing
If you value anything--
Or keep ignoring what I tell
And kiss it all a last farewell

Hey Earth!
Is that a threat?
Can't you see that we're not through
With you yet?

If you'd like to keep on going,
If you're planning to survive,
Keep the forests green and growing,
Work to make the rivers thrive.

Keep the balance balancing
If you value anything--
Or keep ignoring what I tell
And kiss it all a last farewell

A last farewell?
Explain yourself!
Before we shake on any pacts,
Let's see the facts that show the impact of our acts!

Your famines need examining
Your farmlands need replenishing
Your effluents diminishing
Your populations limiting

Today's disease is linked to drought
When overplanted soil wears out
And when you burn the tropic trees
Tomorrow's cure is gone with these

The toxins you don't want around
You try to bury underground
But when the poison waters flow
It's you who'll end up down below!

We get your drift!
Where should we shift?
How can we change?
What should we rearrange?

Just take this dialog to heart
And know each action plays a part
In what you'll have next century:
Cacophony or harmony,

Enmity or amity,
Scarcity or quantity,
Penury or treasury,
Vacancy or tenancy

Catastrophe or victory--
Leaving me or keeping me!

Hey Earth, what's up?
What's the deal?...
